The Buddipole is a shortened dipole; shortened by the means of high 'Q' loading coils. These are beautifully made and account for the very high efficiency of the system. They are positioned roughly half-way along each element, a compromise between efficiency and impedance matching. A purpose designed balun is used to feed the system via the supplied 8m of 50 Ohm coax cable, and the whole assembly plugs into the centre feed T-piece. This is a quick and positive arrangement. The T-piece acts as the centre-feed point and via the 1/2in thread in its base, a means of attaching it to the telescopic mast.
Each of the two dipole legs comprises three distinct parts. The inner section is an alloy element measuring 55cm, then a coil 12cm long (42mm diam) and a telescopic whip 33cm collapsed and 165cm extended. This gives a total dipole length of about 4.64 metres when fully extended for 40m operation. The whole kit packs down into a protective carry bag.

If you want to keep the price down, you can purchase an optional adaptor that allows the dipole to be placed on top of a decorator's pole. Each of the two dipole legs comprise of three distinct parts. This gives a dipole length of about 4.64m when fully extended for 40m operation. The whole kit packs down into a plastic protective container measuring 68cm long and 10cm diameter. Total packed weight is 1.6kg.
The Mini-Buddipole is essentially the same as the standard Buddipole except it is more compact. The two arms have been replaced by 4 smaller arms 28cm (11in) each, thus enabling the whole antenna to be packed away into a compact package that only measures 36cm (14in) in length. There are optional extras available that may be purchased if no alternatives are to hand - such as the optional tripod support and telescopic mast.

The rest of the dipole is made up of telescopic whip elements. A purpose designed balun is used to feed the stystem via the supplied 3.8m 50 Ohm coax. Tuning the antenna is very easy, first select the band to be used, position the shorting loops along the loading coils, and extend the telescopic whip elements to the recommended length for that band and adjust for resonance.

They are best utilised for medium DX contacts in a vertical configuration with single sloping counterpoise.
These new longer bags are designed to accommodate the long (487.7cm extended 101.6cm collapsed) antenna mast, including leaving the Buddipole Centre Tee on top (104.14cm). They are made from 1000 denier Cordura Plus padded nylon utilizing industrial strength nylon thread and double-stitching at all stress points.
This bag will also accommodate the Deluxe Buddipole Package (antenna, tripod, mast, and all accessories) with some room to spare for extra coax, etc. It's the perfect case for field day, emergency services, and general outdoor operating.
