The MFJ-201 is the modern day solid state equivalent of the valve grid dip meter. As a dip meter you can determine resonant frequencies of tuned circuits and antennas or use it as a variable RF signal source. As an absorption wavemeter, you can locate sources and frequencies of RF energies, parasitic oscillations and harmonics.

An Alternative Dip Meter!

You can turn the MFJ-269 antenna analyser into a great and accurate dip meter. Simply add a large diameter coil (about 2" diam) across the SO-239 input socket. This is best achieved by forming a single turn coil and soldering it to a PL-259 plug. Then just plug this into the MFJ-269 and xclosely couple it to the tuned circuit you atre measuring. Rotate the tuning dial until you see a dip in the meter.
