Enjoy hearing QSOs better, enjoy ragchewing and contest working with the MFJ-616. The MFJ-616 dramatically increases the speech energy above 500Hz where 83% of intelligibility is concentrated. Drastically reduces the speech energy below 500Hz that only contributes to only 4% of intelligibility. Amateur radio communications limits the audio to about 300 to 2700Hz. The audio band on the MFJ-616 is split into four overlapping octave ranges centred at 300, 600, 1200 and 2400Hz. Full control boost or cut of nearly 20dB gives full control of each octave range.

Customer Reccomendation:
"As a published author, I’m not given to writing without the promise of financial return, but feel bound to make an exception in order to pass on my recent experiences to others. Having suffered worsening hearing loss in the upper registers over several years which rendered making sense of stations with anything approaching clarity difficult if not impossible (even with hearing aids) - I was preparing to give up amateur radio, when Jeff Stanton of Waters & Stanton happened to mention that a speech enhancement gadget was marketed by MFJ, developed by Martin Jue, the company’s founder and president, himself a radio amateur who suffers from similar hearing problems. I admit to being sceptical, having tried all manner of headphones, speakers and amplifiers, none of which made the slightest difference, but decided to give one a try anyway. I set about acquiring an MFJ-616 and wow! - What an amazing difference! I quickly discovered that once adjusted to suit my hearing, stations jumped from the speakers with a clarity I haven’t experienced for more years than I care to admit - and, even more amazingly, without the use of hearing aids. Any amateur who can hear sound perfectly well but has difficulty in making out what people are saying would, in my opinion, benefit enormously from installing an MFJ-616. But don’t take my word for it - try one and see."
