Many short wave receivers have audio stages and bandwidths designed for broadcast reception. However, a narrower bandwidth is really required for SSB, but this would destroy the fidelity of music. In the interest of economy, the designers simply pass the SSB signals through filters that are just too wide for optimum reception. However, this little item may solve the problem, and at a very reasonable cost. It requires no power and simply connects between headphones and headphone socket (3.5mm lead included). The NR-2 reduces the audio bandwidth and sill make a significant improvement to SSB reception, particularly on portable style receivers.
