The PBX has been designed as a portable HF vertical, ideal for carrying around in the car and using by the side of the road or in a field. Able to handle 200W, it can be used with all the popular compact HF transceivers. Packed down it measures around one metre in length. Erected it extends to around 3.6 metres. A ground spike and all necessary radial wire is included. The antenna is completely self-supporting.
The highly-efficient air wound 'bug catcher' loading coil and telescoping 1.67m radiator lets you really get out! The radiator collapses to 762mm for easy storage and carrying.
It includes coax RF choke balun, coax feed line, counterpoise wire and safety rope. The operating frequency is adjusted by moving the 'wander lead' on the coil and adjusting the counterpoise for the best SWR.
The MFJ-1624 bugcatcher design uses large highly-efficient air-wound inductor -- far out performs other compact HF antennas. Exclusive built-in inductive matching network keeps SWR low. 1.67m whip collapses to 762mm for easy storage and garages. Base loaded for minimum wind load and stress. Change bands by moving the 'wander lead'. 3/8 by 24 inch mount.
Use these inexpensive, lightweight, isolated mini-dipoles when space is limited for temporary or permanent installations. Rotate to null QRM/noise and to focus your signal. Limited bandwidth. The MP2-SA is a base loaded whip screwdriver type antenna for portable work. It is especially suited for use with portable rigs like the FT817. With the accessories supplied it is possible to use the antenna from a balcony or window, with the counterpoise just draped over the edge. There are other accessories (not supplied) which enable the antenna to be either fixed to the FT817 or to use it mobile or to extend its frequency range to cover 80m.
The antenna is based around a loading coil which is housed within a metal cylinder and moved by means of a 12V electric motor, i.e. a screwdriver antenna. A telescopic whip is attached to the top of the coil. The basic configuration covers 7 to 30MHz and to 430MHz with just the telescopic part. Tuning is accomplished by applying power to the electric motor (via a reversible switch not provided) and adjusting the height until resonance is attained. Fine tuning can be carried out by lengthening or shortening the telescopic whip.
This optional accessory is used to enable the MP-1 to cover 80m. The tuning scale is given in the instruction sheet. For efficient use a longer counterpoise may be required.
